HostPicks is a product research site built for Airbnb hosts. Every guide we publish is written with one question in mind: is this the right product for a short-term rental? That's a different question than "is this a good product for my own home," and the answer is often different too.
Why Host-Specific Picks Matter
General review sites evaluate products for individual consumers. As a host, you have a different set of priorities:
- Durability under heavy use. Guests cycle through weekly or more. A product rated highly for home use may wear out in months at a busy rental.
- Ease of use for unfamiliar guests. Your guests arrive tired and don't know your place. Equipment needs to be intuitive the first time, every time.
- Easy cleaning and low maintenance. Between turnovers, you need things that wipe down fast, don't trap grime, and don't require special care instructions.
- Listing photo aesthetics. What looks great in a listing photo attracts more bookings. Looks matter, even for functional items.
- Cost-effectiveness at scale. Replacing a $200 product twice a year hurts. We factor in total cost of ownership, not just sticker price.
How We Pick Products
Every guide is built from real Amazon data — ratings, review counts, and current pricing pulled at publication time. We prioritize products with strong ratings, high review volume, and price-to-quality ratios that make sense for a rental business.
Written summaries, pros, and cons are generated with AI assistance and reviewed for accuracy. We focus each review on what matters to hosts: how will this hold up, how easy is it for guests, and is it worth the cost over many turnovers.
